Thank you to both Phoebe and Gabriela for nominating me for a Sunshine Blogger Award! It was an honor to be nominated by two fellow lifestyle bloggers; this is going to be fun!
The rules are:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you/link their blog
2. Answer the 11 questions
3. Nominate 11 other blogs
4. Write 11 new questions for the nominated blogs
5. List the rules and display Sunshine Blogger Logo on post
Since I received 2 nominations back to back, I decided to take half of the questions from Phoebe and half from Gabriela so that I would still be answering 11 questions in the end. Let’s get started!
Questions from Phoebe
How do you relax/wind down?
I love to immerse myself in my favorite relaxing scents like rose and lavender. I’ll turn off the lights, light my scented candles, and settle in with a book or whatever show I’m bingeing. People usually typecast me as the sort of person who would spend her night of relaxation watching Audrey Hepburn movies (because I’m very girly, I love pink and love vintage fashion) but I actually prefer horror! My favorite way to wind down is with a horror novel. I also love listening to creepy music or horror scores before bed because I find them calming. I compiled some of my favorites into a Spotify playlist called Good Night, Sleep Well which I love to listen to it when I’m winding down for the night.
What TV show/youtuber are you binge watching right now?
I just started Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Though I’m a 90s kid, I never watched Buffy (I was more of a Sabrina the Teenage Witch kid) so I’m making up for lost time. I just started the first episode today so I haven’t formed an opinion just yet, but we’ll see! As for YouTube, I keep up with Gabi Demar’s vlogs, always! I also love Niomi Smart’s health videos; she’s my biggest health and fitness inspiration!
If you had the power to change one thing in this world, what would it be and why?
That’s easy; I would end animal cruelty! Animal rights are so overlooked and people can get away easily with animal abuse. I would make the world a better place for animals, with no mistreatment tolerated or allowed!
Why did you start up your blog? How as it changed you?
I started this blog when my best friend Darcy suggested it. If it weren’t for her, I probably never would’ve seriously considered it. She pointed out that it would be a great creative outlet for me and it really has been! I like lifestyle because there’s a lot of wiggle room in what I can post about, and I’ve never really had a creative outlet before this blog (other than taking aesthetic Instagram pictures). I love the blogging community because everyone is so kind and supportive of one another. The best part has definitely been the people; there is such a sense of community and everyone looks out for each other.
What is your ultimate dream in life? Where do you want to end up? What do you want to achieve?
My ultimate dream would just to have a happy and anxiety free life. I would like a career that I love where I can express myself and feel creatively fulfilled. I would love to hopefully end up living in Europe one day, preferably England or Italy! I have always been fascinated by Tuscany, especially. My dream would be to live in a cottage in Tuscany.
Tell us about your typical weekend?
My typical weekend usually consists of one day to myself and one day where I go out and be social. I spend the day to myself catching up on chores like laundry, reading books, and spending time with my dog. I admittedly nap the day away pretty frequently too (usually by accident). Some weekends, I don’t have any social obligations and get both days to myself, which I much prefer! I’ll always be that introvert who prefers to stay in.
Questions from Gabriela
What did you want to be as a child?
I wanted to be a singer! I remember in fourth grade when I was selected as a soloist to sing in front of the school and from then on, I was bit by the bug! I’d always had that dream but I grew up in a household that stifled creativity. I was urged not to pursue anything that wasn’t “stable” so I never had the help or support from my family, nor was I allowed to audition for any music schools. Even now, the toxic mindset of “don’t take risks or pursue your dreams because you’ll fail; just settle for a job you hate but is stable and pays well” is hard to shake because it was preached to me everyday from a very young age. Sometimes, I wonder how different things would be right now if I wasn’t raised in a household where I was taught that my talents are useless or “only for fun” because they are creative and artistic but not academic. I completely disagree with that mindset by the way; artistic people are the best! If anyone, whether it be your family or friends, are telling you otherwise, it’s an incorrect and toxic mindset. You were given your talents for a reason and just because they lie on the artistic or musical side, doesn’t make them “useless” for your future. Don’t do what do what I did and just roll over and get a useless degree that you hate because that’s what you were taught to do; go pursue what you love and prove them wrong!
What’s your favourite place on earth?
Disney World, 100%! Some people think Disney World is underwhelming because there are “too many kiddie rides” or “the rides aren’t as great as Universal” but they’re missing the point. It isn’t even about the rides, it’s about the magic. There’s just something special about walking through Disney World, seeing your favorite movies come to life in front of you, as if you can live them out yourself. There’s nothing like meeting and interacting with characters you grew up watching, visiting Disney landmarks, and disneybounding as your favorite characters. It really is all about the Disney magic in the air!
What makes you stand out as a blogger?
Probably my bizarre obsession with fairytales that I just had to incorporate into my blog. I came out of the womb obsessed with fairytales and I am certain that the reason I even like Disney so much is because it stems from my love for fairytales. I knew from the start that I wanted to do a fairytale themed lifestyle blog, which is something that I don’t think anyone else has done. I love that I can use blogging as an outlet to share something that I’ve loved for as long as I can remember!
What inspired you to start blogging?
It’s more of a “who” than a “what”. Like I mentioned earlier in Phoebe’s portion, my best friend Darcy is the one who suggested that I start a blog. This blog wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for her, not only because it was her suggestion, but because her drive and determination are inspiring. She is an incredible writer but had been told her whole life, by people who should’ve been supporting her, that she shouldn’t pursue it because she wasn’t good enough and wouldn’t succeed (which I can definitely relate to). It took her years to shake that toxic mindset, but now, she has not only overcome the doubt, she is actively pursuing a career as an author. She is now working on her first novel, the first in a fantasy series (which is INCREDIBLE so far by the way, no bias). That fierceness and determination is what inspired me to find an outlet where I could express myself creatively.
Who would play you in a movie about your life?
Hailee Steinfeld! Because we both have dark features and she has small, slightly squinty eyes which I can relate to, you know, being Asian and all. Plus, I’ve been a fan of hers since True Grit!
